the process: simple painted berry basket

I picked up these berry baskets at my local feed store this past spring and have been using them in the pantry every since. Thought I would dress a few of them up for fun!

It was a simple process. First I painted the base of the basket with craft paint. I used a lighter wash of the same color for the inside of the basket.

Next I doodled on my basket. I used a variety of different sized paint pens.

I added a few little pops of color along the way, using craft paint, followed by more doodles.

Super quick. Super easy. And a pretty way to display your favorite trinkets or present a holiday basket of goodies to your neighbor!

Blessings to you and yours at Holidays and always! Enjoy!

on the worktable: crocheted baskets

As part of my yearly goal to decorate on a dime I am trying to shop my home and create things that I would normally buy. I loved these pretty crocheted baskets but had to stick to budget on my bedroom makeover so I decided to google a pattern instead.

I feel I should mention I am not a seasoned crocheter! I am self taught and I can tell you practice makes perfect. This was a very simple to follow pattern and at no point frustrating. I haven't added the fabric stiffener yet per the instructions, but I still might. I really wanted this basket to remain soft looking and I am worried the stiffener will change that look. We'll see. Anyway- I love it and I think I will make a few more and cluster them together on a nightstand or desk to keep things clutter free!

In My House: wire baskets

In my house... there seems to be a pattern evolving with vintage wire baskets. What started as a simple pair of egg baskets has erupted into a metal basket mania.

The pair I mention made the long trip home with me from Pennsylvania a few summer's ago. They were a bit bent and didn't even sit flat when I placed them on the counter of the barn style store I was visiting, but they had stolen my heart with their quirky simplicity. Now they rest on a plain white shelf, unadorned, where they state the obvious -  Understated.

Since then, more wire treasure have found their way into my home. They are reclaimed, strong, functional and add just the right amount of vintage charm to any room.
