My number one fan loves PRETTY and so I always find myself creating things for her.
This painted pouch found it's way to her most recently and she did what she does best - applaud and drool and make me feel really, really good.
She has a gift for making someone feel like they are worth what they are doing, giving, creating. She has a gift for making someone feel cherished and loved.
I trust her judgement and I value her friendship. She is a gem and she deserves all the pretty she can get. I love you SK.
This is on the worktable this week - pretty zipper pouches...
These two bold and bright babies are sold, but look for more in my etsy shoppe next week! If you like this you could try to win THIS ONE in an auction over at this talented girls blog! But hurry - you only have until Friday!
I gave a little peek of this here, when I talked about Roben-Marie's awesome Mixed Media Essentials stamps and what I did with them, but...
...I wanted to give you a few more shots of what this pretty painted pouch looked like.
You can win this in an auction over at Roben-Marie's blog next week, so be sure to stop over and read all about it!
Good Luck! ...But don't worry if you don't win this one - more coming to the etsy shoppe here soon!
I know I have posted several times on the love of using scraps of fabric but here I am again. I just can't bear to part with them. Just because they are small doesn't mean they aren't beautiful or useful - right? This time I paired that love with another favorite of mine. Rug hooking. What I got was an unexpected surprise.
Using a blend of fibers, hand dyed cottons, wool, tulle and more this bag turned out to be a textile lover's dream come true. Chunky, lofty, and just plain yummy. In rug hooking I take special care to vary the loft of the project, giving it added depth. I did the same here and this created the added bonus of shading- bringing out the vibrant color of the bag.
A reclaimed quilt block and vintage style spray made a perfect closure for the bag. I love the charm of the floral and tulle - a throwback addition to the funkiness of the modern hooked look. Touching this bag is wonderful!
Now can you see why I can't throw all those scraps away?

...THEY MIGHT JUST BE MY FAVORITE SCRAPS SO FAR THIS YEAR!
Deeper colors for the impending fall season, but still some brightness to them. I love the chevron patterns and big floral prints - a throw back to some of my favorite home decor fabrics from the past. I put a new spin on my signature floral brooch too. I love the new mix of solid and hand dyed silkies. Even my leaves have "sprouted" and become ruffled themselves. A trick that only sewing on wool can produce!
I wonder how anyone could ever tire of ruffles and rosettes?
I love her.
So - do you love her?
